How to Ask Your Bridesmaids to Be in Your Wedding

When it comes to your wedding, you want everything to be special-even down to how you ask your bridesmaids to stand up next to you on your big day. Here are some cute ways to ask them that are affordable and your bridesmaids will surely enjoy!

Along with the ideas below, you will want to include a personalized note asking them to be in your wedding:

1. A framed picture of the two of you
2. A bridesmaid "how-to" book

3. A mini bottle of champagne (I've found these at Cost Plus World Market)

4. Dress sachets

5. Either buy or bake them dress shaped cookies that ask the big question (cookies below are from Weddingish)

There are tons more ways to do this to make it special for your bridesmaids. Did you do anything special to ask your bridesmaids?

Blog Love

I just wanted to share a little blog love I received from Marcia over at Marcia Photo. We met awhile back and her work is just incredible! Marcia is an AZ wedding photographer and highlighted my post about what to wear for day after photo sessions. You can read her post here.

She is also running a special over on her blog called the Economic Stimulus Package.

If you book her by 3/31/09 to photograph your 2009 wedding, you will receive 20% off your prints and albums.

How to Make your Own Wedding Monogram

Save money by making your own wedding monogram! Even if you don't think you are creative or tech savvy, following my easy tutorial will get you on your way to personalizing your wedding.

1. Open up Powerpoint

2. Create a Square or Rectangle by using the “Rectangle” button along the bottom of your page

3. Double click on the box to change the color of the fill and the outline (you can also change the size, the line style, line width, etc)

4. In my example I am going to lay another box inside the first box (here you can see where I changed my fill color to brown, my line color to white, and the weight of my line to 3 pt)

5. Go to “Insert” then select “text box”

6. Type text, change color, font, and size to your liking

7. Once complete, hit Ctrl A to select everything you created, right click, select “Save as a Picture” then type in the name of your document and save it as a jpg

Below is my finished product in .jpg format.

Are you making your own monogram? If so, share your ideas!

Bridesmaid Gifts They Will Love!

We've all been in weddings where we get the cheesy bridesmaid gift that we will most likely never use. I know it's the thought that counts, but don't you really want to spoil your bridesmaids for all the support and love they've given you leading up to your big day?

Personalized stationery is a cute and affordable gift idea that they will definitely use again and again!

Here are a few options:

Vistaprint, starting at $10 for 10 notecards

Invitation Consultants, starting at $36 for 50 notecards

What's the best bridesmaid gift you've ever gotten?

Day After Bridal Session-What To Wear

I'm sure you've all heard of the "day after bridal session" where the bride and groom spend the day after the wedding (or month after, doesn't really matter as long as the dress still fits) with their photographer capturing all the fun and unique shots they weren't able to get at the wedding. This is also a great time to break traditions by wearing funky jewelry, bright accessories, and including fun props!

Here are a few ensembles I put together over on Polyvore:

Three Tips for Reducing Pre-wedding Stress

Pre-wedding stress can get the best of us. It can make you cranky, irritable, and ::gasp:: maybe a little bridezilla! To prevent stress during the planning process, I found a few ways to relax that worked well for me.

Tip #1
Stay focused on your fitness. Whether it's working out once a week or everyday, make sure you are getting to the gym and burning some calories. This is a great way to get your mind off all your wedding decisions and bring some clarity back to your life. (No, you shouldn't have yelled at your fiance for not caring about how to fold the dinner napkins or what filigree to use on the menus)

Tip #2
Do yoga/meditate. I was never a fan of yoga until recently but it has brought me great stress relief. Check out Yoga Today for daily one hour yoga videos-all for free! You can select your skill level, what you want to work on, and how long you want to do it-and the instructors are awesome!

Tip #3
Turn off the computer! I know, this may seem odd. You've got a million posts to read through on The Knot and Style Me Pretty just posted a new wedding but some nights, you need to stay away and get your mind off the wedding. I found that the more I looked at wedding pictures from other peoples' weddings, the more I felt I had to do for my own wedding. And, it's good to get off the computer and back into the real world-hang out with your fiance, try that new recipe, walk the dog. In case you forgot how, see below. ;)

Stay tuned for more tips on how to relax during the wedding planning process. Did you have any surefire tips for relaxing during the planning?
